What happens next

The consultation results have influenced the next actions taken in respect of progressing the devolution proposal. Over 5,800 people shared their views, giving broad support for devolution to Hull and East Yorkshire.

The leaders of both councils have reviewed the results of the consultation contained within the report to determine the level of public support for each aspect of the proposals.

They have considered -

  • Responses from the public, businesses and stakeholders, partnership organisations, and the voluntary and community sector
  • The data collected through monitoring questions to allow consideration of geographic and demographic distribution, to make sure that all voices around Hull and East Yorkshire are heard
  • Resident and stakeholder letters provided during the consultation
  • Feedback from focus groups and outreach events

Following detailed consideration of the above, on 27 March 2024 Hull and East Riding Unitary Leaders Board approved the submission of Hull and East Yorkshire's Devolution Proposal to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
