The Notice of Election for the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority Mayoral Election has been published.
The pre-election period is now underway, running until the close of polls at 10pm on Thursday 1 May.
Residents across Hull and the East Riding will have the opportunity to vote in this election.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council chief executive Alan Menzies will act as the Combined Authority Returning Officer (CARO) leading the election, with Hull City Council chief executive Matt Jukes acting as the Local Returning Officer for Hull.
Alan Menzies said: “The election gives residents the opportunity to have their say on who represents Hull and the East Riding as the mayor for the next four years.
“Working alongside local leaders, the mayor will unlock investment and opportunities for our region, maximising the benefits of devolution in the years ahead.”
Matt Jukes added: “It is important that residents make sure they are registered to vote so that they can take part in this election.
“Anyone who has voted in previous elections but has since moved house or changed their name will need to make sure they are registered under their new details.
“Anyone who has turned 18 in the last year will also need to register so that they are able to vote.
“It is also important to remind electors that they now need to show acceptable photo ID in order to vote at a polling station or, of course, they can register for a postal vote.”
The deadline to register to vote is Friday 11 April and it takes just five minutes on-line at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
