Your Vote, Your Voice, Your Mayor – Hull and East Yorkshire residents urged to vote for region’s first elected mayor

Six candidates have been declared for the upcoming Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority Mayoral election.

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday 1 May to decide who they want to be the first elected mayor for the area.

The candidates are -

  • Luke Campbell - Reform UK
  • Rowan Halstead - Yorkshire Party
  • Anne Handley - Conservative Party
  • Kerry Harrison - Green Party
  • Margaret Pinder - Labour and Co-operative Party
  • Mike Ross - Liberal Democrats

East Riding of Yorkshire Council chief executive Alan Menzies will act as the Combined Authority Returning Officer (CARO) leading the election, with Hull City Council chief executive Matt Jukes acting as the Local Returning Officer for Hull.

The deadline to register to vote is Friday 11 April and it takes just five minutes online.

Anyone voting at a polling station will need photo ID. Information on acceptable forms of ID, or what to do if you don’t have a form of ID.

Poll letters are being issued to all registered electors in the region with important details on how to vote.

All electors can choose to vote by post for any reason, including if they cannot get to a polling station on Thursday 1 May, applications can be made online.

The deadline for new postal vote applications or for changes to an existing postal or proxy votes is 5pm on Monday 14 April.

It is also possible to vote by proxy, where a voter can appoint someone they trust to vote on their behalf.

The deadline for new proxy vote applications is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.

Paper application forms for both postal and proxy votes can also be requested from the Electoral Services offices of the respective councils.
